Shift:    Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Wage:     $15.00 - $16.00/hourly


The purpose for this position is to provide lay legal advocate and case management services to victims of domestic violence, their dependent children and family members. The lay legal advocate/case manager will begin working with domestic violence victims once they enter La Casa de Paz. Appropriate services will be identified, planned, obtained, provided, recorded, monitored, terminated and follow-up will be provided, when necessary, by the lay legal advocate/case manager.


Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work (BSW) or closely related field, or five years experience working in related field. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred. Familiarity with Arizona’s domestic violence statutes and victim’s rights preferred. Must be able to obtain a valid Arizona’s Driver’s License and show proof of current auto insurance.

1.  The lay legal advocate/case manager will perform the following duties and tasks,

2.    Explanation of the judicial system, constitutional rights, services available though Victim Witness offices, including Victims Compensation and Restitution,
3.    Explanation and assistance with from completion of petitions for ores of protection,
4.    Identification of options and contacts in law enforcement and legal system which may assist the victim,
5.    Court accompaniment for hearings,
6.    Assistance in self-advocacy to resolve difficulties with employers, creditors, property owners/landlords and others,
7.    Provide intake and assessment of individuals,
8.    Provide case management of AAI clients and their children in safe home, shelter, transition home and other settings.  This will include the development of an individual case plan, implementation of the case plan, monitoring of the case plan and closure of the case plan,
9.    Provide advocacy to AAI clients and their children in safe home, shelter, transition home and other settings.  This will include referring and assisting the client in obtaining necessary services and resources; assisting the client with obtaining appropriate legal, dental and medical services; providing consultation, education and community outreach as appropriate. This will also include accessing appropriate city, county, state and federal resources,
10.    In the event temporary or emergency shelter is not available and/or accepted, the case manager will assist the client in finding appropriate alternative placement to ensure safety,
11.    Coordinate and facilitate access to and delivery of supportive services to the client and record this information in accurate, up-to-date client files,
12.    Provide and/or arrange transportation to the client in order that appropriate resources are accessed,
13.    Participation in regular staff meetings,
14.    Follow-up and aftercare services to AAI clients and their children,
15.    Must be able to lift 20-50 pounds,
16.    Other related duties as may be assigned.
